Dr. Ope Banwo Invests Over N200 Million Naira in Youth Empowerment Through Fish-For-Life Initiative

Dr. Ope Banwo, the esteemed founder of the Fish For Life Empowerment Foundation, is making waves with a groundbreaking initiative to tackle youth unemployment in Nigeria. With a bold investment of over N150 million Naira, Dr. Banwo spearheads the Fish-For-Life pilot program, designed to equip Nigerian youths with the digital skills essential for sustainable self-employment in today’s digital economy.

The visionary project, set to launch in 2024 with an initial investment of N200 million, will provide comprehensive digital skills empowerment training and resources for 60 selected youths. Each beneficiary, symbolizing one year of Dr. Banwo’s life as he celebrates his 60th birthday, will receive a comprehensive support package to kickstart their journey as self-employed digital entrepreneurs.

This exclusive group of 60 will receive free laptops, essential software, intensive digital business training, paid internships, ongoing group coaching, mentorship from experienced entrepreneurs, and a Diploma in Digital Business. Additionally, 1,000 more participants in the first year will benefit from the training and coaching aspects of the program, laying a solid foundation in digital entrepreneurship.

“The Fish For Life program is more than just skills training; it’s about fostering a growth mindset, self-sufficiency, and resilience in our youth,” said Dr. Banwo. “We aim to empower Nigerian youths to innovate and create sustainable economic opportunities in the digital era.”

The one-year program will culminate in a Fish For Life conference at the Oriental Hotel, Lagos on May 9th, following a week-long digital skills boot camp online. The conference will feature intensive training, networking opportunities with industry leaders, and discussions on ‘Mass Digital Self-Employment As Solution To Mass Unemployment in Nigeria’ with distinguished speakers including Senator Gbenga Daniel, Prof. Kingsley Moghalu, and Cecilia Akintomide of AFDB, among others.

For those interested in participating, registration for the upcoming boot camp and more information about the Fish For Life program can be found at www.FishForLife.NG.
